As I got older, I started my own journey as a young Jewish woman. One tradition that my mom always made us ladies participate in was lighting the Shabbat candles. Whenever I light the candles, it's an opportunity for me to make the connection with God and ask him to watch over myself and protect those around me. The lighting of the candles is a very special tradition.
This custom has not only bonded me with my religion but it has also brought me closer to my mom and sister. In our crazy busy lives, Shabbat is the one day in the week I look forward to. It's the one day when you don't have to worry about work or be on your phone, you're just living in the moment with all your loved ones. I knew I wanted to make a story that sheds light on these beautiful traditions that in many times have saved us and provided us with hope.
